European Portuguese for Beginners Countries and Nationalities

Description

Do you enjoy travelling and being able to communicate with locals? Are you considering moving to Portugal? Are you already living in Portugal?
Well… this course is designed for any curious mind trying to learn European Portuguese.
Over the last few years, I have been teaching Portuguese to foreigners living in Portugal. Because of that, I became familiar with the fact that most of the resources available on the internet are in Brazilian Portuguese. And, in case you didn’t notice yet, Brazilian and European Portuguese are very different. To the point that Brazilians struggle to communicate when they arrive in Portugal.
For that reason, I decided to create a series of online courses about European Portuguese. In this third course, I am teaching you how to talk about countries and nationalities in European Portuguese. The course is divided into 3 lessons:
Lesson 1 – Countries and Nationalities
This first lesson is dedicated to teaching you some vocabulary. I will teach you the names of the 5 continents and some countries (it would be impossible to teach you all).
You will also learn the nationality of each one of those countries, both in the feminine and masculine forms.
Lesson 2 – Verb “ser”, the preposition “de” and definitive articles
To speak about where are you from and your nationality, you must know how to use the verb “ser”, the preposition “de” and the definitive articles.
I will teach you how to use each one of these with practical examples.
Lesson 3 – In which countries is Portuguese spoken?
In this last lesson, I will show you a list of Portuguese-speaking countries and I will show you where they are located on the map.

Once you conclude the course, I invite you to complete this course project (you can find more information about it in the “projects and resources section”). I really would like to see your video uploaded here.
To help you consolidate your knowledge I also made available a document where you can find all the vocabulary you just learned. There is also another document called “exercícios” where you can find 2 exercises to practice. You can find the solutions on the third page.

Project Guide

Now that you’ve concluded this course, I invite you to record yourself saying some brief sentences.

Write down a short presentation. For example:
“Olá! O meu nome é Eliana.
Eu sou de Portugal. Eu sou portuguesa.”

Use the “discussion” section to share your text.

I will check your spelling and reply to it!

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve learned!
